Want to understand what is important to conference space for a city, or what happens behind the scenes when Music Theatre Wichita performs? What about a look at the river and how the east bank can connect to the west bank?
Come explore, learn and ask questions at one of the four Riverfront Legacy Master Plan Urban Explorations on September 24 & 25. You'll have a first-hand opportunity to experience the master plan site and engage with the design team. RSVPs are required and can be made at the link below.
The Riverfront Legacy Master Planning process was born through Project Wichita – a community engagement process to discover a regional vision and the action plan to achieve it. Built upon extensive public input from almost 14,000 voices, the Project Wichita plan identified the river as a key community asset, specifically identifying as priorities: a unified plan for development in Wichita’s urban core, a world-class performing arts facility, a state-of-the-art convention center and a gathering spot in the heart of the city. View highlights of the master planning process below.
Will consider all elements:
performing arts center, convention center, Century II, the former library, pedestrian bridge, WaterWalk area, open riverfront gathering space, as well as connecting elements and locations.
Master Planning Coalition
The Riverfront Legacy Master Plan process was launched by a coalition of community organizations in response to the recent recommendations from the Project Wichita regional visioning process and the Century II Citizens Advisory Committee. The Coalition will work closely with other community organizations and area neighborhoods.
